Fes & Midelt
We left Volubilis in the mid-afternoon and headed to Fes. Fes is a northeastern Moroccan city often referred to as the country's cultural capital. It's primarily known for its Fes El Bali walled medina, with medieval architecture, vibrant souks and old-world atmosphere.
Around Fes - These pictures include the trip from Volubilis to Fes, the King's Palace and some shots taken while walking through the streets.
A shot taken during the trip from Volubilis to Fes. This is a very scenic area as we start into the Atlas Mountains

The Fes Medina - Of all the medinas that we visited, this one was the largest and most confusing. The pictures don't do much justice to what it was like because there were myriads of small lanes that cut in and out and we were constantly walking. The best photo ops weren't taken because we didn't have the time to stop and compose the shots.
This is typical of the Fes medina; shop after shop on both sides and lots of people, both tourist and locals.

Riad Al Makan - These shots are from inside and on the sun terrace of the riad.

Berber Village - After Fes, we travelled into the Atlas Mountains and stopped at a tiny town called Midelt. The highlight was going through an authentic Berber village and having tea in a Berber home hosted by the woman in the pictures. On the way, we took a "monkey break" to see the local macaque monkeys that live adjacent to the road.
A stop on the route to Midelt. Everyone is in this shot, including our driver Hamid (far right), so it must have been taken by Brahim!
