Italy, October 4 to 18, 2023

Now that Covid is behind us, we did the long discussed trip to Italy. We planned the itinerary ourselves, and used the services of Laletravel, a travel agency that is owned and operated by Alessandra Levi. She gave us lots of help and advice, booked our hotels and tours and planned most of our activities. She stayed in touch with us using WhatsApp while we were travelling and helped us deal with the unexpected.

We really enjoyed the trip, but it was certainly hectic. We hadn't planned a lot of down time, so we came back pretty whacked. We were very impressed with the quality of the food, although we did find the diet was too high in carbs for our bodies. The people we met were very helpful, and left us with a good feeling about the country. The only problems we ran into were how expensive everything was, and the tendency in Rome for everyone to try to rip you off. The crowning insult was being charged 125€ for a lunch just outside the Vatican.

We used 4 main cities that acted as hubs and then we did activities and tours that were near to each city. Naples was the exception—we did a short stop there on the way to Rome.
