Malta

On day three, we docked in Malta. It is a tiny island in the Mediterranean that is about 80 km south of Italy. We took a tour organized by Royal Caribbean called "Mdina and Historic Valletta".

Around Malta - This is a collection of pictures taken from the ship in and around the harbour. We were struck by the beauty of the buildings as we arrived.

Mdina - Mdina is a fortified city in the Northern Region of Malta, which served as the island's capital from antiquity to the medieval period. The city is still confined within its walls, and has a population of just under 300.

This is the entrance into the walled city of Mdina

Valletta - Valletta is the tiny capital of the island nation of Malta. The walled city was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. It's known for museums, palaces and grand churches.

After Mdina, this was the first view of Valletta as we walked in to the city.
