Rabat, Meknes & Volubilis
On the first full day of the tour (day 2 according to Peregrine), we drove from Casablanca, up the coast to Rabat and from there inland to Meknes. We stayed overnight in Riad Almataj in Meknes. The next morning we saw a bit more of Meknes and then drove on to Volubilis.
Around Rabat - Rabat seems like a nice town with lots of seaside views. We stopped for a stroll, checking out the Rabat version of the Hassan Mosque (unfinished) before we were on our way to Meknes.
Ready to go in. These guards were as still as statues.

Around Meknes - We arrived in Meknes in the evening and checked into our riad. The next day we were given a tour of the town with a local guide.
This was our first view of the Meknes medina. This is the centre of the city where sellers are ready for the evening\'s business.

Volubilis - Volubilis is a partly excavated Berber city commonly considered as the ancient capital of the kingdom of Mauretania. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed for being "an exceptionally well preserved example of a large Roman colonial town on the fringes of the Empire".
First look at the site, up the hill after a good long walk!
