Critters

There was quite a lot of "interesting" wildlife on the island, and from what we learned they were mostly imported over the last 100 years. There were many feral cats in the Princeville area, and they would hang out near the condo and scrounge for food. Leslie made friends with one especially cute one and it stayed nearby for the week. There were lots of roosters throughout the island. The story we were told was that they were brought over by Philipinos in the 1950's and after an especially bad storm, a number of them got away. The descendants cover the island and stay close to people to find food.

There were also peacocks (remnants of another importation that got away), and lots of interesting little red cardinals (especially found on the golf course). Cardinals are also on Maui.
