Texas, November 8 - 18, 2004

Map of Texas We had originally planned to drive to Santa Fe in Fall 2004, but Sharon did some serious damage to her ankle (a cross between a sprain and a small break) so we had to cancel those plans. Once the ankle improved we looked around to see where we could go on short notice using frequent flyer miles and we picked the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The first stop was 4 days in the DFW area, where we played golf, visited with Ralph Doherty, saw the Stockyards and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza (where JFK was shot).

After that we drove to San Antonio for the next 4 days. It rained very heavily and they even had tornado warnings. In spite of the lousy weather we enjoyed ourselves visiting Natural Bridge Caverns, Fredericksburg and even playing a game of golf in the hill country just north of the city. Finally we stopped in Austin for 2 days before flying home. If we get to do it again, I want to spend a lot more time in the San Antonio and Austin area--it sure was interesting.

The shots are organized as follows:

Golf & JFK
Fort Worth Stockyards
The Alamo
Natural Bridge Caverns
Fredericksburg
