Hubbard Glacier
We were fortunate to get quite close to the glacier. It had been raining (as usual) but apparently the weather was cooperating and there was no safety concern, so our ship cruised by very slowly. We were told that previously there was a buildup of water in a fjord and the ice had just broken within the last few weeks.
The colour of the glacier is the blue-white tinge that you see in several of the closeup shots below (the ocean wasn't quite the grey-green that it appears to be, because I haven't been able to accurately reproduce it here). Most notable on this slow cruise past the glacier, was the sound of chunks of ice breaking off and falling in to the water.
