Alaska Cruise, August 23 - 30, 2002

IntineraryThis was one of the most memorable vacations that Sharon and I have ever taken. We got together with Wynn and Carol Pope on a 7-day cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage.

The map on the right shows our intinerary. We set sail from Vancouver on August 23rd and cruised through the inside passage to Ketchikan. There, we visited a totem park, a fish hatchery and an eagle rehab centre. Our second stop was in Skagway where we walked around the town sight seeing, followed by a ride on the White Pass Railroad up the mountain. The White Pass had been recommended by our GUIDE friend Gene Blair, "If you only take one shore excursion, it should be this one." And he was right.

After Skagway we went to Juneau and then to Sitka. Leaving Sitka we did a fairly long cruise up the coast to Hubbard Glacier and finally into Seward. To complete the journey we took a bus to Anchorage and flew home, via Vancouver.

Because of the large number of pictures, I've split this up into a number of different web pages.

Finally, after the cruise was over, we stayed in Anchorage overnight until we could catch our plane back to Vancouver. The weather was pleasant, although a bit cool. The flower displays throughout the city were really nice.
